How a Lab Panel is the Key to Improved Wellness

Published by Joshua Kleinstreuer

Diet, exercise, and sleep are often considered to be the wellness trifecta, yet the true answer to whole body health comes from within.

The only sure-fire way to improve whole body health is knowing your body’s inner deficiencies, which can be accomplished with a comprehensive lab panel at Nova Vita. There is a misconception that these types of tests are only needed by those who live with cardiovascular or endocrine complications.

In actuality, lab panels can help a patient understand how different organs in your body are working, such as your thyroid, liver, or kidneys. The panel also identifies critical vitamin and mineral levels in the body which are not on-par for premium health and wellness.

Nova Vita offers two lab panels for improved wellness:

Panel 1: Baseline Labs

What it’s good for: This panel examines how well your kidney is functioning, the balance of fluids and electrolytes in your body, blood sugar levels, and your metabolism. Abnormal levels of any test result could be an indicator of health complications involving the endocrine, renal, and digestive systems.

What it tests:

  1. Lipid Panel

  2. Complete Blood Count (CBC): A CBC is a group of tests that evaluate the cells that circulate in blood, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.

  3. Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP): A CMP is a test that measures 14 different substances in your blood. It includes all the measurements of a basic metabolic panel (BMP) along with additional proteins and substances:

  • Glucose
  • Calcium
  • Sodium
  • Potassium
  • Carbon dioxide
  • Chloride
  • Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN)
  • Creatinine
  • Albumin
  • Total protein
  • Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP)
  • Alanine transaminase (ALT)
  • Aspartate aminotransferase (AST)
  • Bilirubin

Panel 2: Whole Body Labs

What it’s good for: This specialized panel pairs with our Baseline Panel to offer a more thorough evaluation of how vital organs and glands are performing—including the liver, kidney, thyroid, and heart.

What it tests:

  • Vitamin D

  • Magnesium

  • C-reactive protein (CRP)

  • Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c)

  • Serum Iron

  • Total iron binding capacity (TIBC)

  • Partial Thyroid Panel including Thyroxine (T4) and Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)

Once your results are in from either panel, you will receive a full copy of all your levels, how to read and interpret your results with baseline ranges for “Low,” Normal,” and “High.” If you have any questions about any of your results, you can call one of our providers to discuss what they mean for your overall health and wellbeing.
